This is the story of Paul Tasner speaking at a Ted X Conference -on How I Became An Entrepreneur at 66
Paul’s story is not entirely unfamiliar since it followed one of those pivitol moments in life – in his case redundancy after 40 plus years working for others
He founded his own start-up at age 66, pairing his idea for a business with his experience and passion. And he’s not alone. As he shares in this short, funny and inspirational talk, seniors are increasingly indulging their entrepreneurial instincts — and seeing great success.
How I Became An Entrepreneur At 66 – Paul Tasner’s Story
Some favourites from the talk are
“Lets start talking more about people who don’t become entrepreneurs until they’re seniors. Talking about these bold men and women who are checking in when their peers, in essence, are checking out…. and then connecting all these people across industries, across regions, across countries – building a community“
He goes on to say
“We have an interesting culture that really expects when you reach a certain age, you’re going to be golfing, or playing checkers, or babysitting the grandkids all of the time“
We don’t know about you but the thought filled us with dread and after all we had that bucket list of things to do, place to see and new friends to meet
Later life entrepreneurship has allowed us to follow our dream of living the retirement lifestyle we always planned back in the days when we were following a career path, bringing up the children and paying the bills!
