Following a recent chat with our mentor we were discussing the importance of multiple income streams which like ourselves she also has several – income from her network marketing business, income from affiliate marketing and income from private mentoring – pretty much the same as we do albeit her primary income is from network marketing and ours is from affiliate marketing
Drawing on our personal experience we an say that the earlier you start developing these the better. 50 is way better than 60 because at 60 as things stand currently, especially in the UK, 67 is the official date at which you can retire. Now being in our early 70’s we are way past retirement age but we continue to work but by choice and we work for ourselves not for an employer which makes all the difference!
How did we come to be here talking about this? If you haven’t met us before we gave up our self-employed accountancy and management consultancy business in our mid-50’s and started an online business as what is now known as affiliate marketers. Reason being was the realisation our pension income would be insufficient for our retirement years and our investment in property took a big hit in 2008 as a result of the world wide recession forcing us to seek alternative income sources or work in our consultancy until the end of our days… not something we were going to do
In 2010 started a new career and built a successful 15-year business helping others generate online income for their retirement.
This discussion was prompted in part by a social media post where someone had asked about the best investment for residual income in a group we belong to on Facebook. Among 300 plus responses to the question pretty much all of them were from people pitching their business opportunity which is all well and good as it’s what they’ve probably been taught to do…
But we made the point that investing in digital marketing skills and finding a supportive community would probably be the best investment they could make having rescued a number of people over the years from poor decisions on the business they have chosen to promote where they have not been given appropriate skills a system to follow or a community to champion them on their journey and sadly did not understand how crucial a fair compensation plan it either.
Whether you choose affiliate marketing or network marketing you should be fairly rewarded for your efforts
We have both in our business and it’s given us the security we require to achieve our retirement goals – “working a little to live a lot” keeping us engaged and healthy mentally and physically while generating an income that we can talk confidently with others about and help them create their very own residual income portfolio for their retirement
